Santander Reveals $4.3 Million Bitcoin ETF Position Amid Eurozone Institutional Adoption

Banco Santander, the largest bank in the eurozone by market capitalization, has revealed it holds approximately $4.3 million in US spot Bitcoin ETFs.

The bank's regulatory filings show this exposure to US-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs, which is a relatively small position considering its massive asset base of over a trillion dollars.

This disclosure fits into a broader pattern of measured crypto integration at Santander. The bank has been building digital asset capabilities across Europe for years and has been publicly discussing potential Bitcoin products since 2021.

The bank's Openbank subsidiary offers crypto trading services to clients in Germany, with an expansion to Spain planned as the next step. By holding spot Bitcoin ETFs on its own balance sheet while offering crypto trading through Openbank, Santander is building expertise on both sides of the business.
