Satoshi-Era Bitcoin Coins Move After 16 Years, Spark Speculation
Bitcoin's Satoshi-era coins have stirred up excitement in the crypto community after being dormant for over 16 years. A total of 600 BTC, worth approximately $48 million, moved from long-dormant addresses on Saturday. The coins originated from rewards mined across 12 Bitcoin blocks in March 2010, when each block paid a 50 BTC subsidy.
According to Whale, a blockchain transaction tracking platform, none of the mining blocks can be connected to Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin. Whale's research found that the coins were moved from rewards mined during a period when Nakamoto was still actively involved with Bitcoin development and communications.
The movement of 600 BTC has sparked speculation about the origins of the coins and whether they could be linked to Nakamoto. However, Whale's spokesperson noted that 'none of the blocks can be connected to Satoshi based on our research.'
