Satoshi-Era Miners Awaken After 16.5 Years: $28 Million Transferred
A sudden and unexpected surge of activity has been observed in seven Bitcoin wallets from the Satoshi era. After 16.5 years without any movement, these wallets have come back to life, transferring a total of 350 BTC worth approximately $28 million.
Each wallet transferred 50 BTC, which is equivalent to one block reward in March 2010 when the coins were mined. At current prices near $79,850, each initial 50 BTC reward is now valued at nearly $4 million.
The owners of these wallets may not be selling based solely on the transfers themselves, as they do not offer clear proof of impending selling pressure unless the coins later arrive at an exchange or another recognizable liquidity venue.
