Saylor, Back Oppose BIP-110 Over Activation Concerns

A proposal to limit extraneous data in Bitcoin's blockchain has sparked controversy. BIP-110, submitted by Dathon Ohm and assigned number 110 on December 3, 2025, introduces seven restrictions for about a year. These include limiting new recipient addresses, individual data pushes, and witness elements.

The authors of BIP-110 have designed the activation process to be independent of miner support, with a threshold of 55% blocks signaling support within one difficulty adjustment period.

Despite this, some prominent figures in the crypto community have expressed opposition. Michael Saylor, Adam Back, and Samson Mow argue that the proposal's activation mechanism could lead to chain splits and that the restrictions can be bypassed.
