Saylor Clarifies 'Never Sell Bitcoin' Stance Amid Strategy's BTC Sale
Michael Saylor has clarified his stance on Bitcoin after Strategy's recent sale of 1,638 BTC. The executive reaffirmed that his 'Never Sell Your Bitcoin' message applies to individual investors and not to the treasury management of a publicly traded company.
Saylor emphasized that his personal holdings are separate from Strategy's corporate treasury, stating that 'Strategy is a public company, not my wallet.' He pointed out that the company has consistently disclosed since 2020 that it 'may buy or sell BTC to manage capital,' and that Strategy's long-term conviction in Bitcoin remains unchanged despite recent transactions.
Strategy sold the 1,638 BTC at a median price of $63,957 per Bitcoin. The proceeds from the sale were allocated, with $52.4 million reserved for dividend payments to STRC shareholders and another $52.3 million used to repurchase STRC shares under its Digital Securities Repurchase Program.
Strategy has maintained one of the world's largest corporate Bitcoin holdings despite the recent sale. The company's last Bitcoin purchase occurred on June 22, when it acquired 520 BTC.
