Saylor Clarifies Personal Bitcoin Holdings Separate from Strategy
Michael Saylor, Chairman of Strategy and a prominent Bitcoin advocate, has sparked controversy after clarifying that his personal investment principles are separate from those of the company he leads.
Saylor stated that when he said 'never sell bitcoin,' it was as an individual investor, not as the head of Strategy. He emphasized that he has never sold even 1 satoshi of his Bitcoin, maintaining his long-standing stance on personal holdings.
The clarification comes after a recent decision by Strategy to introduce a BTC cash-out program, which led to the sale of 1,638 Bitcoins for $104.73 million and an additional $290.60 million through common stock sales.
Saylor stressed that Strategy's actions as a listed company do not conflict with his personal investing principles, stating that 'Strategy is a listed company, not my personal wallet.' However, critics like Peter Schiff have questioned Saylor's explanation, accusing him of creating an impression and then failing to correct it.
