Saylor Confirms No Personal Bitcoin Sales Amid MicroStrategy Sell-Off
Michael Saylor, CEO of MicroStrategy, has clarified that he personally owns Bitcoin and has never sold any of it. This statement comes after his company disclosed selling 1,638 BTC for $104.7 million at an average price of $63,957 per coin. The sale reduced MicroStrategy's holdings to 842,138 BTC.
The sale was made to fund the company's USD reserve and retire a portion of its preferred shares, STRC, which pays 12% interest annually. As a result, the company's dividend obligations have increased, reaching $400.7 million in Q2, up from $49.1 million a year earlier.
Saylor emphasized that his personal conviction in Bitcoin remains unchanged and that he speaks 'as one saver to another.' He acknowledged that MicroStrategy's treasury may buy or sell BTC to manage capital, but this is not the same as him personally selling his own coins.
