Saylor Credits AI with $15 Billion Capital Raise via Bitcoin-Backed STRK
Michael Saylor credits artificial intelligence (AI) for helping Strategy raise $15 billion in credit instruments. The AI-designed financing tools were used to create STRK, a convertible preferred stock backed by Bitcoin holdings. STRK's $2.5 billion initial public offering and $8 billion shelf registration made up the bulk of the $15 billion raised.
Saylor explained that Strategy had previously relied on convertible bonds to fund its growing Bitcoin position, but this approach had reached its limit by early 2025. The team turned to AI to design new instruments that would reopen access to capital markets. STRK gave Strategy a new mechanism for raising capital without relying on bonds again.
The $15 billion in credit instrument sales went towards expanding Strategy's Bitcoin treasury further. Saylor emphasized the value of applying AI to problems that have 'never been done before,' rather than competing with automation on routine tasks. He cited the Strategy financing structure as a direct example of this principle in practice.
