Saylor Defends Bitcoin Advocacy as Lawmakers Debate CLARITY Act
Michael Saylor, Executive Chairman of Strategy, has defended Americans' right to discuss and promote Bitcoin without needing a financial license. According to him, in the United States, individuals are free to advocate for Bitcoin adoption or publicly recommend owning BTC without regulatory approval. This comes as U.S. lawmakers continue debating legislation aimed at establishing clearer rules for the cryptocurrency industry.
Saylor emphasized that existing laws prohibit fraudulent activity and market manipulation, distinguishing between legitimate Bitcoin advocacy and illegal conduct. He described Bitcoin as a commodity rather than a security.
The comments arrive ahead of a key procedural vote on the CLARITY Act on September 15. The legislation seeks to clarify the responsibilities of federal regulators overseeing digital assets and establish a broader framework for the U.S. crypto market.
