Saylor Defends Strategy's Bitcoin Sale Amid 'Never Sell' Backlash
Michael Saylor, CEO of Strategy, has responded to criticism over the company's recent Bitcoin sale. The decision was made despite his previous 'Never Sell Your Bitcoin' mantra.
In a post on X, Saylor clarified that he speaks from personal experience when saying never sell Bitcoin. He claims to have never sold any of his own Bitcoin, not even one Satoshi. Strategy is a public company, which operates differently than an individual's wallet. Since 2020, the company has disclosed it may buy or sell BTC to manage capital.
The recent sale was executed at a median price of $63,957 per Bitcoin and saw 1,638 BTC sold. The funds from this transaction were used to pay dividends to STRC shareholders and repurchase shares through the Digital Securities Repurchase Program.
