Saylor Denies Selling Personal Bitcoin Despite Company's Massive Sales
Strategy Chairman Michael Saylor has clarified his stance on selling personal Bitcoin holdings. He claims to have never sold any of his own Bitcoin, despite the company he chairs, Strategy, selling over 5,000 BTC this year.
Saylor made this statement after it was announced that Strategy had sold another 1,638 BTC for $104.7 million in August, bringing its total sales to 5,225 BTC so far this year. The company has been using the proceeds from these sales to fund dividends and buy back shares.
The crypto community is criticizing Saylor's statement, pointing out that he had previously said individuals should never sell Bitcoin, even going so far as to suggest people could mortgage their homes to buy more BTC.
While some experts argue that Strategy's Bitcoin sales are necessary for the company's survival, others are questioning Saylor's motives and whether he has simply deposited his personal holdings into the company and sold them through it.
