Saylor Fires Back at Cramer Over Quantum Computing Fears
Michael Saylor, CEO of Strategy, has responded to CNBC host Jim Cramer's on-air statement that he intends to sell his entire Bitcoin position due to concerns about quantum computing breaking the network's cryptography within three to four years.
Saylor posted a one-line meme from his X account, captioned 'Tranquilize the ₿ears,' which drew thousands of likes and reactions within hours. The post comes after Cramer interviewed IBM Chairman Arvind Krishna on Mad Money, where Krishna discussed the potential impact of quantum computing on cryptocurrency holdings.
Cramer stated that he would sell his Bitcoin due to the 30% threat surface accelerated earlier this year by a Google Quantum AI whitepaper co-authored with the Ethereum Foundation's Justin Drake. The paper estimated breaking Bitcoin's cryptography could require fewer than 500,000 physical qubits, roughly a 20-fold reduction from earlier projections.
The market has remained unbothered by Cramer's statement, with Bitcoin trading near $64,000 in the days following his on-air comments. Saylor has consistently argued that any credible quantum threat would destroy larger systems before targeting Bitcoin and that the network would simply be upgraded when necessary.
