Saylor Hints at Potential Return to Buying Bitcoin with Mysterious 'We're Back'
Strategy Inc., led by Executive Chairman Michael Saylor, has sparked speculation about a potential return to buying Bitcoin after its latest move. The company's holdings chart was posted on X without any details about its next treasury action, leaving investors wondering whether 'We're ₿ack' signals a renewed acquisition or another decision.
Strategy currently holds 840,447 BTC, valued at $65.72 billion. The chart plotted the company's transactions against Bitcoin's market price and average acquisition cost. Saylor's post followed a sharp recovery in Bitcoin's price, which climbed from around $65K to above $75K by August 21.
Strategy reported no Bitcoin purchases or sales between August 17 and August 23, instead selling approximately $2.01 billion in MSTR shares and increasing its restricted USD Reserve to $5.10 billion. The company's official Bitcoin ledger records every disclosed acquisition and sale, including four sales totaling 6,916 BTC after its most recent purchase on June 22.
Strategy pioneered the model of a corporate treasury holding BTC as a reserve asset in August 2020 and remains the largest publicly traded corporate Bitcoin holder, controlling approximately 4% of Bitcoin's fixed 21 million supply. Saylor has also been vocal about Bitcoin's role in global finance, calling for a 'Bitcoin Reformation' beyond early ideological orthodoxy.
