Saylor Makes Case for Bitcoin as 'Digital Energy' Amid Profitable Position
Michael Saylor, executive chairman of Strategy, has once again made a strong case for Bitcoin as a mechanism for converting economic value into a digital form that individuals, companies and governments can control.
In an Aug. 23 post on X, Saylor described Bitcoin as 'digital energy,' his metaphor for transferable and durable value, not an accounting, legal or technical classification.
Strategy's position in BTC has returned to profit, with the company holding approximately $64.9 billion worth of BTC, roughly 4% of the maximum 21-million supply.
The company acquired its holdings for $63.36 billion including fees, translating to an average cost of $75,385 per coin. Bitcoin traded near $77,175 on Aug. 23, placing Strategy's position at approximately $64.86 billion and about $1.50 billion above aggregate acquisition cost.
