Saylor Reiterates Personal Bitcoin Stash as Strategy Continues Sales
Strategy Inc. Executive Chairman Michael Saylor has reiterated that he has never sold any personally held Bitcoin, including a single Satoshi. This statement comes after Strategy announced its third Bitcoin sale of 2026, leaving the company with 842,138 BTC.
Saylor emphasized that his personal investment philosophy differs from the public company's treasury policy, which allows for Bitcoin sales to support corporate purposes. He noted that Strategy has disclosed since 2020 that it may purchase or sell Bitcoin while managing capital, liquidity, securities, and financial obligations.
Strategy's Digital Credit Capital Framework, announced on June 29, established a $2.55 billion reserve and authorized up to $1.25 billion in additional reserve-building Bitcoin sales. The framework also introduced repurchase programs covering as much as $1 billion each for preferred securities and MSTR common stock.
Strategy's first reported 2026 sale involved selling 32 BTC for approximately $2.5 million, with the proceeds supporting preferred stock dividend obligations. A larger transaction followed when Strategy sold 3,588 BTC for approximately $216 million, averaging about $60,137 per coin.
