Saylor Says US Needs Clearer Crypto Rules, Not Just Bitcoin
Michael Saylor, executive chairman of Strategy Inc., said that Bitcoin can continue to advance without the CLARITY Act while emphasizing the need for clearer digital asset rules in the United States. He stated on X that 'Bitcoin doesn't need CLARITY. America needs clarity.'
The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (CLARITY Act) seeks to establish a comprehensive regulatory framework for digital assets by defining oversight responsibilities, market structure requirements, consumer protections, and agency authority.
The Senate has delayed action on the legislation until September amid ongoing discussions among lawmakers over the bill's path forward. Saylor had already endorsed the CLARITY Act, stating that it could unlock 'the next wave of Digital Capital, Digital Credit, and Digital Equity' while describing the proposal as a framework for broader institutional adoption.
Saylor has repeatedly promoted Bitcoin adoption while emphasizing the role of market infrastructure in supporting wider participation. He views bitcoin's evolution as being shaped by four competing ideologies: institutional adoption, cypherpunk principles, state involvement, and market-driven development.
