Saylor Slams Node Count as Measure of Bitcoin Consensus
Bitcoin's economic weight and node support have been called into question by Michael Saylor.
Saylor argues that less than 1% of Bitcoin's economic weight has adopted BIP-110, a protocol change aimed at addressing spam issues.
This criticism comes as the number of nodes supporting the proposal is reported to be between 16%-18%, with some interpreting this as a sign of widespread support.
However, Saylor suggests that consensus in Bitcoin's ecosystem is not determined by a one node, one vote system, and that such protocol changes require overwhelming consensus to maintain network security and a resilient fee structure.
