Saylor Warns: Changing Bitcoin Consensus Rules Could Weaken Its Future
Bitcoin's future may depend on its ability to preserve its immutable consensus rules, according to Michael Saylor, executive chairman of Strategy.
In a recent public statement, Saylor warned that Bitcoin's greatest threat now lies in changing its consensus rules, which he likened to the constitution of a state.
Saylor emphasized that any alteration to the protocol's architecture could weaken Bitcoin and compromise its scarcity and property rights.
He specifically targeted proposals such as BIP-110, restrictive clauses, and block size increase, arguing that they introduce unnecessary complexity and risk distorting Bitcoin's primary function as a settlement network.
