Saylor Warns of 'Corruption from Within' as Bitcoin Debate Rages Over Consensus Rules
Michael Saylor, chairman of Strategy, has sparked debate over changes to Bitcoin's protocol by likening its consensus rules to a 'constitution'.
Saylor argued that attempts to rewrite these rules infringe on users' economic rights and that the biggest threat to Bitcoin is corruption from within, rather than external enemies.
He grouped various proposals, including BIP-110, covenant, and block size expansion, together as 'different ideas, same crime,' where certain groups change the rules for their convenience, shifting costs and risks onto all users.
Saylor emphasized that protocol changes should be rare and conservative, made only when there is a clear need, not for ambition or convenience.
