Saylor's Bitcoin Boom Prediction: Fact or Fantasy?

Michael Saylor, Executive Chairman of Strategy (MSTR), made a bold prediction about Bitcoin's future performance. In an interview on August 6th, he stated that the cryptocurrency could achieve a 30% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the next 20 years.

As of the update published earlier this month, Strategy held 840,447 Bitcoins, which is roughly 4% of the token's maximum supply of 21 million. If Bitcoin were to reach Saylor's predicted price target, Strategy shareholders would see significant gains.

To assess the likelihood of this prediction, we must look at the math behind it. Using Bitcoin's price at the time of the prediction ($64,500 per token), a single Bitcoin would be worth approximately $12.26 million in 20 years if Saylor's forecast proves correct.

While a market capitalization of $257.5 trillion for Bitcoin is not impossible, there are many speculative assumptions baked into this scenario. Additionally, the purchasing power of Saylor's price target would likely be diminished due to the assumption of massive devaluation for the U.S. dollar.
