Saylor's Bitcoin Branding Efforts Score Big with Sold-Out Jordans
Strategy's $250 Bitcoin-themed Air Jordans have become a hot commodity, selling out just four days after their release on September 4. The shoes are part of Michael Saylor's effort to turn his company's massive Bitcoin holdings into a consumer brand.
The company, which holds around 845,050 BTC (about 4.02% of the total supply), has been increasingly building its public image around Bitcoin since dropping the MicroStrategy name in February 2025. The sold-out Air Jordans are the most prominent example yet of this branding effort.
The shoes combine custom company branding with leather overlays, Nike Air cushioning, and the Air Jordan Wings logo. They were priced at $250 a pair and came in nine different sizes. While Strategy hasn't disclosed how many pairs were sold or when inventory ran out, the sold-out status suggests strong demand for premium products carrying the Bitcoin brand.
The Jordans' popularity points to a broader trend of consumers looking to buy into the Bitcoin brand. However, there's an irony in this - customers are being asked to pay with conventional payment methods like credit cards and digital wallets, rather than Bitcoin itself.
