Saylor's Chart Sparks Speculation: Will Strategy Resume Bitcoin Purchases?
Strategy's Bitcoin holdings have sparked speculation once again after executive chairman Michael Saylor posted an update on X, fueling expectations of another purchase. This is not the first time Saylor has shared a chart detailing the company's BTC reserves, but it is reminiscent of a previous post that preceded the sale of 1,638 BTC to cover operational costs.
The company holds 842,138 BTC, with an unrealized paper loss of $9.05 billion due to its average purchase price being higher than the current market value. However, Strategy has $4 billion in available cash and has not made a direct crypto purchase since June.
This combination of abundant liquidity and compressed prices creates a favorable operational context for the company to perform dollar-cost averaging operations, potentially smoothing out its cost basis. While investors are cautious due to recent events, including the sale of 1,638 BTC in August, Strategy's financial structure has considerable leverage for action.
