Saylor's Strategy Shifts From Bitcoin Accumulation to Capital Management
Michael Saylor's Strategy is shifting its focus from aggressive Bitcoin accumulation to a more cautious capital-management strategy. The company sold $333.7M in stock over a seven-day period, using the funds for buybacks and interest payments on preferred shares.
The sale marks a significant departure from the company's earlier strategy of using stock sales to fund further Bitcoin purchases. In fact, Strategy hasn't bought any Bitcoin since mid-June, when it paused its accumulation efforts.
Over the last five weeks, Strategy sold about $2.1 billion in common stock and used $347 million of that to buy back its STRC preferred shares. The company also liquidated $213.3 million in Bitcoin during this period, growing its cash reserve to $4.8 billion.
This pivot is a result of the company's new capital-management strategy, which prioritizes balance sheet flexibility over aggressive accumulation. Saylor first hinted at this shift in May, and it appears that Strategy is now fully embracing this approach.
