Sberbank Eyes Crypto Lending Expansion with Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT Support
Russia's leading bank, Sberbank, is set to expand its crypto lending services to include Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT as collateral. The move is contingent on the implementation of new crypto regulations in Russia, which are currently being reviewed by the Bank of Russia.
The initiative aligns with the trend of mainstreaming cryptocurrencies in the broader financial sector, where banks are increasingly exploring their potential use cases.
Ethereum and USDT will significantly broaden Sberbank's lending platform, offering institutional and corporate clients a wider choice of portfolios. Ethereum is the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization and serves as the foundation for numerous digital assets and decentralized finance apps.
