Sberbank's Regulated Crypto Platform Set to Launch in Russia

Share

Russia's Sberbank is set to launch its regulated crypto trading platform in late 2026, with a wallet and digital depository integrated into its Sber and SberInvestments apps. The platform will be subject to strict Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements, a curated asset list, and bank-grade custody.

The new law regulating cryptocurrency trading in Russia comes into effect on September 1, 2026, and sets an annual retail purchase cap of ₽300,000 for non-qualified investors. Existing exchanges have roughly one year to register before full obligations bite.

Sberbank's platform will offer a more contained and traceable experience compared to offshore exchanges and decentralized exchanges (DEXs). The asset list will be curated, with large-cap pairs listed first, followed by stablecoins and newer assets subject to explicit approval and risk reviews.
