SBF Backs Trump's Iran Strikes From Prison
Sam Bankman-Fried, serving a 25-year federal sentence for fraud, has publicly endorsed President Trump's Iran strikes and other administration policy positions through prison-approved intermediaries. This effort is widely seen as a campaign for a presidential pardon.
The move has attracted opposition from pro-crypto Republican lawmakers, who argue that Bankman-Fried does not deserve clemency. Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH) called for the former FTX CEO to spend 'a long, long time' in jail. Similar sentiments were expressed by Sen. Cynthia Lummis and Rep. Mike Flood.
The White House has publicly rejected Bankman-Fried's pardon bid, with Trump telling The New York Times that he had no plans to grant clemency. This stance contrasts with previous pardons of crypto-adjacent figures, including Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht and BitMEX co-founders.
