SBI Holdings Invests $270M in Indonesian Online Brokerage Ajaib Group

Share

SBI Holdings, a Japanese financial giant, is investing $270 million in Ajaib Group, an Indonesian online brokerage firm. This investment aims to expand SBI's blockchain and stablecoin network across Southeast Asia.

Ajaib operates various financial services, including online brokerage, foreign-exchange margin trading, cryptocurrency services, and asset management. The existing platform could support SBI's plans to establish a wider network connecting traditional finance with tokenized assets and blockchain payments.

The investment follows SBI's acquisition of Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange Coinhako Group for approximately $100 million in July. It also comes as Japan increases its focus on blockchain-based financial infrastructure, including the recent unveiling of plans for a blockchain settlement system covering stocks and government bonds.
