SBI Holdings Stands by Ripple Amid XRP Price Weakness
SBI Holdings, a Japanese financial giant, has reaffirmed its confidence in Ripple and XRP despite recent market weakness. The company's Director Yasuo Nishikawa attributed XRP's sluggish price performance to uncertainty surrounding the U.S. CLARITY Act, a proposed regulatory framework for digital assets.
SBI Holdings values its stake in Ripple at around 6.6 trillion yen and continues to consider it a strategic long-term asset. The company reported record first-quarter profitability, with shareholder-attributable profit reaching 148.1 billion yen, nearly 2.5 times higher than the previous year.
SBI's cryptocurrency segment recorded a 1.4 billion yen pretax loss due to weaker market conditions, but the company remains optimistic about the future of digital assets. It continues to prepare for a possible recovery through new services, partnerships, and infrastructure expansion.
