SBI Invests $270M in Indonesian Fintech Firm Ajaib Group
SBI Holdings, a Japanese financial firm, is investing $270 million in Ajaib Group, Indonesia's leading online retail investment platform. This deal will give SBI a 20% stake in Ajaib and marks one of the largest tech funding deals in Indonesia in years.
The acquisition is part of SBI's strategy to expand its cross-border settlement blockchain infrastructure across Southeast Asia. The company plans to use this technology to distribute its yen-pegged stablecoin, JPYSC, in high-potential markets like Indonesia.
Ajaib operates online brokerage services, margin trading in foreign exchange and cryptocurrencies, and asset management within the Indonesian market. SBI's integration into Ajaib gives it a strategic foothold in the region.
