Scaramucci Clashes with Crypto Critics as World Liberty Wins Conditional Charter
Anthony Scaramucci, founder of SkyBridge Capital, responded to actor-turned-crypto-critic Ben McKenzie's celebration of the CLARITY Act's failure to get a Senate vote. The act aimed to strengthen oversight by shifting regulation from the SEC to the CFTC without ethics provisions covering officials' crypto holdings.
Scaramucci dismissed the criticism, stating that nothing can stop Bitcoin. In contrast, McKenzie argued that the bill would weaken oversight and allow corruption.
Separately, World Liberty Financial secured conditional approval for a national trust bank charter through World Liberty Trust Co. This would enable the firm to issue stablecoins directly instead of relying on third-party provider BitGo.
Notably, Sen. Elizabeth Warren called the approval 'the most brazen act of self-dealing' she's seen and pledged legislation to curb it.
