Scaramucci Disagrees with Schiff on Solution to Soaring US Debt
SkyBridge Capital founder Anthony Scaramucci has weighed in on Peter Schiff's concerns about US debt and inflation, but disagrees with his solution. According to Scaramucci, Schiff's analysis is accurate in highlighting elevated deficits and interest burdens, with the national debt soaring to $39.89 trillion and the deficit reaching $1.366 trillion as of this writing.
Scaramucci agrees that the US debt-to-GDP ratio has increased significantly from 31% in 1980 to roughly 120% today. However, he differs from Schiff on the solution, stating that while Schiff advocates for gold as a hedge against inflation, Scaramucci favors Bitcoin (BTC) instead.
Scaramucci argues that Bitcoin is a scarce and reliable asset that can serve as an inflation hedge in the evolving monetary system. He cites charts presented by Schiff in his blog post, but reaches a different conclusion than the gold bull. Notably, gold has outperformed Bitcoin over both the 1-year and 5-year periods, although it failed to perform well during times of heightened geopolitical tensions.
At the time of writing, BTC was trading at $63,679.67, down 0.48% over the last 24 hours, according to Benzinga Pro data.
