Scaramucci Sees Silver Lining in Bitcoin's Bear Market
SkyBridge Capital founder Anthony Scaramucci says Bitcoin has entered a bear market, but it's not as bad as past ones. According to him, the current decline of 55% is smaller compared to the 75-80% drops seen in previous bear markets.
Speaking at the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium on August 18, Scaramucci said that despite the bearish trend, demand for Bitcoin ahead of its next upturn may still be present. He pointed out lower volatility and changes in the mining industry as factors contributing to the stagnant market.
The traditional four-year cycle of Bitcoin is also affecting the current trend, with about 18-19 months left until the next halving. Scaramucci believes that when this event occurs, new supply will decrease, tightening the supply-demand balance and pushing prices upward. He predicts that Bitcoin could rise above $100,000 in the process.
However, he cautioned that a strong rebound in the short term is unlikely, with limited volatility and range-bound trading continuing until expectations for the halving are fully reflected in prices.
