Schiff: AI Not a Bullish Development for Bitcoin
Peter Schiff has expressed his skepticism about the potential benefits of artificial intelligence for Bitcoin. In an August 23 post on X, he argued that AI is not a bullish development for the cryptocurrency.
Schiff believes that AI and Bitcoin are competing for speculative investment capital. He also pointed out that they are competing for electricity and data-center infrastructure, which could be a significant concern for Bitcoin's future growth.
The most significant part of his argument concerns Bitcoin's security. Schiff thinks that advanced systems could potentially identify weaknesses in Bitcoin's software or cryptographic infrastructure that have not been discovered by humans.
He also warned that as AI becomes more powerful, it could discover vulnerabilities in Bitcoin's code, cryptography, wallets, or network that humans have missed. This is a significant concern for Bitcoin's security and limited supply, which ultimately depend on software and cryptographic mechanisms continuing to function as intended.
