Schiff: AI Threatens Bitcoin Security and Investment Potential
Peter Schiff has expressed his skepticism about the connection between Bitcoin and artificial intelligence (AI), arguing that the rise of AI is not bullish for BTC. In a recent post on X, Schiff claimed that proponents of Bitcoin are trying to associate the asset with the booming AI sector in order to attract investors who see it as part of the broader AI investment theme.
According to Schiff, this approach has it backwards: AI is not a positive development for Bitcoin, but rather a threat. He believes that AI and Bitcoin are competing for speculative investment capital, and that AI is also competing with BTC for resources such as electricity and data-center infrastructure.
Schiff's most significant concern is the potential security risks posed by advanced systems capable of identifying weaknesses in Bitcoin's software or cryptographic infrastructure. He argues that as AI becomes more powerful, it could discover vulnerabilities in Bitcoin's code, cryptography, wallets, or network that humans have missed.
