Schiff Slams Bitcoin: 'Not a Real Asset'
Bitcoin critic Peter Schiff has continued his long-standing attack on the cryptocurrency. He claims that Bitcoin is not a real asset and therefore its value should not be compared to traditional assets like gold, equities, or real estate. In response to crypto analyst Quinten Francois's post pointing out the significant size difference between Bitcoin and other assets, Schiff replied, 'Bitcoin is not a real asset so its value has no relationship to gold, equities or real estate.'
Schiff also dismissed the idea that Bitcoin can serve as an inflation hedge. He wrote, 'I don't think Bitcoin is an inflation hedge.' Instead, he advocates for traditional precious metals like gold and silver.
In a recent exchange on social media, Schiff was criticized for missing out on Bitcoin's substantial appreciation over the years. However, he claimed that he had been better off avoiding Bitcoin over the long term, stating, 'Over the last five years or so I've been better off not owning Bitcoin.'
Schiff has also expressed concerns about the potential impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on Bitcoin's value. He believes that AI is a threat to Bitcoin, rather than a bullish factor.
