Schwab Cracks Open Altcoin Floodgates with SOL, AVAX, and LINK Spot Trading
Financial powerhouse Charles Schwab plans to add spot trading for Solana (SOL), Avalanche (AVAX) and Chainlink (LINK) to its crypto platform, Schwab Crypto. The move follows client demand for established cryptocurrencies beyond Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH).
Schwab's addition of these altcoins marks an aggressive push into Layer-1 and oracle ecosystems by the financial giant.
Eligible customers will be able to buy and sell SOL, AVAX, and LINK directly through their Schwab brokerage accounts, eliminating the need to create a separate crypto exchange account. The platform's 0.75% trading fee per trade is lower than some exchanges, and supports fractional trades above $1.
Schwab warns that investing in these cryptocurrencies carries risks, including volatility and speculation. Clients are reminded that SOL, AVAX, and LINK are not backed or guaranteed by a bank, central bank, or government, and are not deposits, FDIC insured, or SIPC protected.
