Schwab Enters Crypto Market with Direct Trading of Bitcoin and Ether
Charles Schwab has introduced direct trading of Bitcoin and Ether on its retail brokerage platform at a 0.75% transaction fee, allowing clients to trade crypto alongside stocks and ETFs within the same account.
This move follows strong client demand and aims to consolidate digital assets with traditional investments.
Schwab is also piloting crypto transfers and plans to expand crypto services, including custody and advisor platform integration, by mid-2027.
The launch positions Schwab competitively against other brokers and crypto exchanges, offering a trusted platform for its 39.8 million active brokerage accounts managing $13.1 trillion in assets.
