Schwab Expands Crypto Offerings with SOL, AVAX, and LINK Spot Trading
Charles Schwab is set to expand its crypto offerings by adding spot trading for Solana (SOL), Avalanche (AVAX), and Chainlink (LINK) to its platform. This move marks a significant push into Layer-1 and oracle ecosystems, with the financial powerhouse aiming to cater to client demand for established cryptocurrencies.
The addition will allow non-accredited retail investors to buy and manage major altcoins directly alongside their standard brokerage portfolios without leaving the traditional finance ecosystem.
Schwarz's SOL, AVAX, and LINK spot trading offers some key practical advantages over buying the same assets on a standalone crypto exchange. The platform charges a flat 0.75% fee per trade, supports fractional trades above $1, and allows market, limit, stop, and stop-limit orders.
The move could boost retail demand as Schwab's tens of millions of brokerage accounts will have easier access to three established altcoins. However, the addition is not a promise of ongoing buying, as it will rely on actual client adoption as well as market conditions.
