Schwab Expands Crypto Platform to Include Solana, Avalanche, and Chainlink
Charles Schwab is expanding its cryptocurrency platform to include support for Solana, Avalanche, and Chainlink exposure. This move marks a significant shift in the company's approach to digital assets, as it expands beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum.
The addition of these three assets suggests that regulated investor demand is moving beyond the two largest cryptocurrencies. While Bitcoin and Ethereum remain core institutional products, Schwab's platform now offers exposure to different parts of the digital asset market.
Solana is a high-throughput smart contract network with a large retail and DeFi ecosystem, while Avalanche has focused on subnets, institutional deployments, and tokenized asset infrastructure. Chainlink provides oracle and cross-chain data services used across many crypto applications.
This expansion may increase liquidity and visibility for the supported assets, but it could also create a sharper divide between them and other altcoins that are not supported by major brokerages.
