Schwartz Fires Back at Criticism of XRP Ledger's 'Ghost Chain' Status

Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz has fired back at criticism of the XRP Ledger, calling it a 'weird thing to say.'

The criticism claimed that the XRP Ledger was a 'ghost chain,' with less than 1% of its transaction activity coming from real human payments over the last eight years. However, Schwartz pointed out that XRPL's cheap fees make it attractive to different users.

Schwartz highlighted the utility of the XRP Ledger, which continues to grow across various fronts. He posed a question to the critic: 'If it were more expensive and fewer people did low-value things on it, would that somehow make it better?'

The XRP Ledger's usage is increasing, with a distributed real-world asset (RWA) market cap of $458.37 million and over 4.8 million agentic transactions.
