Schwartz Reignites XRP vs Bitcoin Debate: Market Cap Flip Feasible Through Organic Growth
Ripple CTO David Schwartz has reignited debate over XRP's potential to surpass Bitcoin's market capitalization, stating that it's more likely to happen through organic growth and adoption rather than a collapse in Bitcoin's price.
Crypto analyst Zach Rector ran the numbers and found that at a $1.5 trillion valuation for Bitcoin, XRP would trade near $23.91 using its current circulating supply of about 62 billion tokens. Taking a more conservative approach that accounts for XRP's full 100 billion token supply, he calculated fully diluted values of $15 at a $1.5 trillion valuation and $25 at $2.5 trillion.
Rector also ran the scenario through AI tool Claude, which pushed back that his numbers understated the case. This suggests that the conservative estimate may be too low, with $15 to $25 representing the floor of the scenario rather than a ceiling.
