SEC Chair Calls Crypto Regulation Proposal 'Most Historic Step Yet' for US
SEC Chair Paul Atkins has hailed the agency's Regulation Crypto Assets proposal as its 'most historic step yet' for crypto. The move aims to establish the U.S. as the global center of crypto innovation, according to Atkins.
The proposal introduces a specific securities offering structure for select investment contracts with crypto assets and includes two suggested registration exemptions: $5 million in offerings over four years and $75 million within a 12-month period.
Atkins is also urging Congress to pass the CLARITY Act, which would give digital asset regulations more clarity and define clearer regulatory boundaries between federal financial regulators.
