SEC Chairman Expects Clarity Act Approval on September 15th Vote
SEC Chairman Paul Atkins expects the CLARITY Act to be approved in the Senate by September 15th, according to an interview with Fox Business. The bill aims to make the US a crypto-friendly nation and needs 60 votes to avoid a potential filibuster from opponents.
The SEC has already proposed Regulation Crypto Assets, which Atkins described as 'our most historic step' to cement America's position as the crypto capital of the world. This proposal is aligned with the CLARITY Act legislation and proposes two exemptions for crypto offerings: one for startups and another that needs further clarification.
Atkins stated that their goal is in line with the White House, which seeks to make the US a hub for cryptocurrencies. The SEC's Regulation Crypto Assets aims to 'accept comments and be ready to march forward', implying that it will help facilitate the growth of the crypto industry.
