SEC Crypto Rules Delayed: Implications for XRP, HBAR, and XLM
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has delayed its expected crypto rules, adding another twist to the regulatory picture for digital assets. The agency canceled its August 14 meeting, which was supposed to consider a proposal for a tailored offering regime for certain crypto investment contracts.
The SEC cited an unforeseen scheduling issue as the reason for the delay and stated that the meeting would be rescheduled. At the same time, the SEC's separate tokenization 'innovation exemption' has reportedly been delayed again.
This move could have significant implications for XRP, HBAR, and XLM, which are currently enjoying a relatively favorable standing due to their existing legal classification. However, if access to clearer SEC rules eventually expands across a wider range of tokens, simply having favorable classification may no longer be enough.
