SEC Debates 24-Hour Trading to Match Crypto Ecosystem
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is set to hold a roundtable discussion on September 17th to explore the feasibility of implementing 24-hour trading in the stock markets.
This move aims to align traditional finance with the continuous dynamics of the crypto ecosystem, which operates 24/7/365.
The SEC's Chairman Paul Atkins has acknowledged that the U.S. stock market is moving towards a new day-night trading environment, but challenges such as maintaining adequate overnight liquidity and adapting settlement systems to operate continuously need to be addressed.
