The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has delayed its proposal for Regulation Crypto, citing an unforeseen scheduling issue.

The proposed regulation, known as Reg Crypto, aimed to establish a framework for issuing crypto securities without triggering agency registration requirements.

SEC Chairman Paul Atkins had discussed the plan as part of his digital assets regulatory strategy, which also includes an innovation exemption for tokenizing securities.

The delay comes as lawmakers in the Senate struggle to pass the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, a bill that would establish a legal foundation for crypto market activity in the U.S.
