SEC Delays Tokenization Exemption Amid CLARITY Act Coordination
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has postponed its innovation exemption related to tokenization, according to Eleanor Terrett, host of Crypto in America.
This delay is due to ongoing discussions among stakeholders over Section 10505, the tokenization provision of the CLARITY Act.
The SEC's exemption was intended to foster innovation by allowing certain tokenization projects to operate without full compliance burdens.
However, concerns have emerged that an independent SEC move could undermine the hard-won consensus around that provision.
