SEC Exemption for Crypto Firms Could Arrive in Early October
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is expected to announce a crypto innovation exemption in early October, according to Brett Redfearn, president of digital asset firm Securitize.
The exemption would allow certain digital asset companies to operate without registering as brokers, exchanges, or other regulated entities for a set period, providing temporary relief from regulatory uncertainty.
This move is linked to the Senate's vote on the CLARITY Act, which is scheduled for September 15. The exemption could ease compliance burdens for startups and established players alike, though it would not eliminate the need for eventual registration.
