SEC Eyes Rulemaking for Decentralized Crypto Projects
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is set to consider new rules that could give decentralized crypto projects a clearer path towards full decentralization.
Under the proposed 'Regulation Crypto' framework, developers would be allowed to raise capital before decentralizing, potentially providing a regulatory runway for open-source blockchain ecosystems.
The SEC will hold its first formal crypto rulemaking on August 14, where it is expected to create a pathway for projects to exit securities oversight once founders are no longer actively managing them.
This move follows the Senate's failure to advance the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act before its August recess.
