SEC Moves Forward with Cryptocurrency Regulations Amid Clarity Act Delay
The Clarity Act, a crucial piece of legislation in the US regarding Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency market, has been postponed to September after failing to advance in the Senate before its August recess.
This delay comes as the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) prepares to take a significant step forward in regulating the public offering of certain investment contracts involving crypto assets.
The SEC is set to hold an open meeting on Friday to discuss rules for establishing an initial public offering (IPO) framework for specific investment contracts involving crypto assets, with Eleanor Terrett, host of the Crypto In America program, noting that this central issue will be addressed during the meeting.
TD Cowen analyst Jaret Seiberg described the SEC's proposal as 'the first of several regulations expected to provide greater certainty for crypto markets following the Senate's postponement.'
